The Rotary Club of Scarborough –

who we are – what we do !

Scarborough Rotary Club is part of the association of over 30,200 Rotary Clubs world wide in 162 countries with a total membership of  around 1.2 million.

We are a group of local business and professional leaders, who meet on a weekly basis. Our objective is to provide humanitarian services across the community (both local and international) and to strive to build goodwill and peace in the world through volunteer service and fellowship.

Rotary is NOT an old man's club. Scarborough Rotary actively is looking for young men and women who have a passion to help their community and who want to meet like minded individuals. Our membership includes people in their early 30's through to members who have retired. All ages, sexes, backgrounds etc help to make a club like ours function and grow so what ever you may think you know about us let us show you first hand; it would be our privilege.

The Club has been involved with the community since its inception in 1957. We have an on going commitment to our local Surf Life Saving Club, having supplied the first two-way radio towers in the country many years ago and other equipment, boats, reels, rubber duckies etc before and since.

We practically and financially support the Life Education caravan and specialist teachers as an excellent means to stop the drug dependency disease from spreading by getting the practical message over to primary school students before they encounter drug problems and peer pressure in their teenage years.

The Club in association with the Christian Brothers, has a workshop with 15 volunteers that build wheelchairs for less than $100 each, which are then freighted to those in need in countries such as Cambodia, Kenya, Vietnam, China and Mongolia. The Club has also assisted Cambodia, Kenya and India to set up their own wheelchair workshops
